The Overland Track

Christmas 2024 was spent hiking the Overland Track. One of Tasmania’s most premier outdoor adventures often dissuades those seeking a bit more solitude on the trail due to its popularity. Beyond the hordes of day trippers and hikers is plenty of rugged and wild forests, button grass plains, waterfalls and glacial lakes.
The weather was poor with only the first day being rain free which meant the warm huts were taken full advantage of. The incessant rain and wind hampered the trip, kept my feet soaked and my camera stowed away. Beneath all this were moments of solitude and companionship formed with those you saw each day. It was good for the soul. What a great trip in the end.
